🚗🔧BHS STUDENTS LEARN EMERGENCY VEHICLE SAFETY: Motor vehicle safety and maintenance skills are necessary for drivers of all ages. Recently, students at Barrington High School took part in an automotive emergency training session with our BHS School Resource Officer, Officer Joel, and automotive services technicians from AAA Northeast! They learned about changing tires, charging vehicle batteries, conducting fluid and tire checks, and replacing windshield wipers and had the opportunity to apply their learning in a real-world environment. 🧬🧫BPS STUDENTS SHINE AT RI SCIENCE FAIR: Earlier this month, students from Barrington High School and Barrington Middle School presented at the Rhode Island Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF). Many of our students were recognized at the RISEF Awards Ceremony! BHS junior, Isabelle, received Best in Fair First Grant for her project, "Jumping Genes: A potential molecular target for Alzheimer's disease intervention". Isabelle will be one of two students representing Rhode Island at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, California, next month! BHS students Siddharth, Sara, and Katherine also received Best in Fair First Grant awards (top ten projects at the fair) for their projects; Julia, Iris, Rahul, Emma, and Athena received First Grant awards; and Malak, Alexandra, Jason, and Onson received Third Grant awards. 💜🌈🦒SOWAMS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT IS "IZSPIRED": Sowams School third graders in Mrs. Adamson's and Mrs. Lally's classroom recently completed a community service project benefitting the Izzy Family Room at Hasbro Children's Hospital. In the spirit of the Izzy Foundation, a local nonprofit that funds and "IZspires" creative projects, spaces, and programs for families whose children have cancer, Sowams students made pillows and wrote notes of encouragement to be shared with children at Hasbro. 🐶HMS STUDENT COUNCIL MAKES A DIFFERENCE: The Hampden Meadows School Student Council hosted a March collection drive to benefit the Hotel for Homeless Dogs Humane Society in Cumberland. Yesterday, Student Council members visited the Hotel for Homeless Dogs to deliver 365 items (including dog food, collars, leashes, bowls, beds, blankets, toys, and cleaning supplies!) generously donated by the Hampden Meadows community. They also got to tour the facility, make dog treats, bag treats for volunteer dog walkers, and, of course, meet the four-legged beneficiaries of their donations! Thank you to Student Council advisor, Miss O'Neil, and the entire HMS community for helping our students make a difference! 🐩🐕
