Trimester 1/Trimester 2:

We can’t believe we are just about a week away from ending Trimester 1 and beginning Trimester 2. Our schedules are set and students are ready to begin Trimester 2 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. At the end of each trimester, it is always a good idea to engage in reflective practice. What worked well? What did not go so well? What can I do differently during trimester 2? I encourage all of our students to take a few moments to engage in this important reflective practice.

Trimester 1 Grades:

Report cards for Trimester 1 will be available on December 12, 2025, at 4:00 pm via Aspen.

BMS PTO:

The next BMS PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 7:00 pm in the BMS Student Union.  All are welcome!

BMS Community Service Club - Toys for Tots Drive:

The holiday season is here! For those who don’t know, Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corps based organization that collects new toys and gives them to kids as gifts for the holidays. Our Barrington community is holding a toy drive working with Toys For Tots and the Barrington Police Department to help kids who aren’t as fortunate. We are looking for donations of new toys such as stuffed animals, games, or sports equipment that are new and unwrapped. There will be a bin for donations in the second floor breakout space. Donations are due on December 15. Thank you!

Attention 8th Grade:

On Friday, December 12, 2025, we will be having an 8th Grade Class Trip Fundraiser from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. BMS will be hosting a movie night for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. We need a number of 8th grade students to assist with snacks, ushers, and “supervision” during the event. Please consider signing up to assist with this important fundraiser by having your parents complete the form at this link

Special notice from our Student Assistant Counselor, Mrs. Manny:

Recently there has been a lot of discussion between middle schoolers about caffeine pouches (popular brands: Mojo, Wip, Upperdekys), that are available for purchase at local gas stations. They look identical to nicotine pouches, such as Zyn, however contain between 50mg-200mg of caffeine, depending on the brand. Although nicotine-free, these caffeine pouches are made by the same companies that make nicotine pouches and THC products, marketing to a younger audience.

Nicotine pouches are increasingly popular with high school students, and this makes the same trend available to younger kids. While conversations about caffeine are a family matter, please be aware that this product has gained momentum in our school community.

Join BMS’s School Improvement Team

BMS is seeking family members to join our School Improvement Team. The purpose of the SIT is to provide input on and monitoring of SMART Goals (School Improvement Plan) for continuous improvement based on the District Strategic Goals (Scorecard), data, and feedback provided by the school and district-based teams such as the data teams, the Health and Wellness Committee, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) teams, and the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support teams.

Teams will provide voice and an avenue for communication from each building to their school community and the larger district community regarding progress toward our strategic goals and objectives. Teams will also be integral to the participatory governance of the school.  Student representatives are needed as well!

News from the Barrington Farm School:

Why compost?

Soil enriched with compost can hold FIVE to TWENTY TIMES its weight in water! This limits erosion, reduces storm water runoff, and improves water retention, increasing resilience to both floods and droughts.
