Message from Ms. Slaughter: Tardy Notification

Dear Parents/Guardians - being on time and ready to learn is important for successful students and classrooms. Starting with Trimester 3 we will be adhering to the tardy/attendance policy as it is stated in our BMS Handbook. Tardies will start to accumulate for students on Monday, March 18th the first full week of Trimester 3.

  • Students are expected to be in their first period class by 8:40 a.m.; any student not in their first period class by this time is considered tardy to school.

  • Three unexcused tardies per trimester will result in an assigned lunch detention and family contact.

We would like to partner with you to create a success plan moving forward. Please reach out to me or your student’s school counselor to set up a meeting if you need additional support for  your student.

Thank you for your continued support,

Amy Slaughter Jaime Poirier Krystal Leary Stephanie Nary

BMS Community Mini-Lending Library:

Hello Readers!

Since it seems as though the rains may finally lead to sun, it's time for spring to lead to all things spring: baseball, flowers, and, of course, spring cleaning!

Please clean out your bookshelves, underside of bed, backpack, or backseat of mom's car of the books you'd like to pass on to other readers by making a donation to our BMS community mini-lending library.

We'd love books of any genre, especially current books (or classics) in good condition.

Please hand them in to your ELA teacher, unless the teacher asks you to bring them directly to Mrs. Bento in room 1219.

Donations can be made until May 1st.

~ BMS Spotlight on Learning ~

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Krystal Leary, Ms. Kelly Nelson, Mrs. Janna Fadale, Mrs. Stephanie Nary, and Mrs. Jamie Poirier for organizing and facilitating this year’s Career Day. This past Friday, BMS was excited and curious as students attended workshops on possible careers. Thank you to all our amazing presenters, keynote speakers, and BHS Band! It was a fantastic day!

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our 7th Grade Students! They exemplified the characteristics of Barrington Middle Students being responsible, respectful, and excelling in the areas of character, citizenship, collaboration, communication and critical thinking. It was evident through the way they comported themselves, asked good questions, and engaged with Career Day presenters that students reciprocally impacted their futures through their interaction with presenters. You make us proud!

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.
