Attention 8th Grade Families: Phase 1 Washington DC Information Update

Thank you to all of our students and families who completed the Phase 1: Signup and Room Preference Form which was due December 1, 2023. We have nearly 240 students who indicated they wanted to attend. We were hopeful to communicate to our families earlier this week the total number of students and the total cost of the trip. This has been pushed off until later this week and we will alter these dates once we have the quote. We are currently working with the tour company who is giving us a quote with the total number of students and required rooms. We hope to have this total shortly. Please stay tuned for Phase 2 (Family Pledge Dorm).

Trimester 1 Report Cards:

We can’t believe we have completed Trimester 1 and have started Trimester 2. All of our students have had a successful transition into our new school year. We are looking forward to continuing to build on this positive momentum. Trimester 1 Report Cards will be available in Aspen on Friday, December 8, 2023, by 4:00 pm.

2023 - 2024 Panorama Family Survey:

Barrington Public Schools is seeking family feedback on school climate and culture to help us identify current successes and areas for growth over the next year and to better meet the needs of our students, families, and staff.

Click here to take the Fall 2023 Panorama Family Survey by December 14, 2023.

This survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your responses are essential to informing our school goals and actions.

Your input is truly valued! Based on the ideas and needs you identified last school year by taking the Spring 2023 Panorama Family Survey, our schools have implemented a number of improvements like: creating social emotional community meetings that allow students to meet in grade level and mixed grade level settings, implementing “lunch and learn” programs supported by the expertise of parent volunteers, creating more opportunities for college and career readiness, ensuring our events are inclusive and accessible to all, and providing a diverse array of experiential learning opportunities for students.

Thank you for supporting the continuous improvement of our schools and District. Please contact your building principal if you have any questions about the survey.

Please consider joining the All-In-Club in attending an upcoming Providence Bruins game on January 21, 2024 at 3:05 pm.

Providence Bruins

The All-In Club will work to organize all inclusive events that parents, staff and students are welcome to attend. Parents are required to provide transportation, expense of the event and supervision of children attending. Under no circumstances are children allowed to be dropped off and left unattended. These are created to be family fun events that like-minded individuals can share with others from the BMS community.

BMS Community Service Club:

Since Christmas is coming up, we are thinking of others!  This year, we want to make less fortunate children happy! Therefore, we are holding a “Toys-For-Tots” drive, where we are partnering with the Best Buddies at BMS and the Barrington Police.. Toys-For-Tots is a program that is run all around the United States, where they distribute toys to less fortunate families.

We are encouraging people to donate new toys; everything makes a difference. The donations start on November 27th and end on December 15th. Here is the grade distribution:

8th- Sports (Football, Jump Rope, balls, etc…) and Games (Board Games).

7th and 6th- Under-age games (such as Twister, etc…), dolls (Barbie, L.O.L. Dolls, etc…), cars, and art supplies.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, we appreciate it!

~ BMS Spotlight on Learning ~

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our Life Skills Team. I am moved each day by the ongoing support that the Life Skills Team gives both the life skills students and teachers they service each day. It is a team effort and many days come with new challenges. With each day and each challenge they face they jump right in and create such a wonderful and nurturing learning environment that helps the students to thrive. I am so very grateful to them for the support they show the students and myself so that together as a team we can help each child reach their potential. (Nominated by a member of our BMS Learning Community).

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.
